I would not like to be online all the time but I am sick for the past few days and I can’t help but scroll Twitter (yes, I refuse to call it X). Twitter is also a dumpster fire full of racism, politicians milking immigration and making us, the people on H-1B — “the enemy”. These days I just block anyone who does it and shows up in my feed. I fully believe in listening to the other side but these people don’t deserve my attention.

Sometimes I see a tweet from Julie Fredrickson. It’s usually a link to her daily blog. I have read her blog many times and thought about following the practice but I haven’t. My reason being I can’t write daily, it’s such a burden and quantity doesn’t mean quality. It’s right to focus on quality but that doesn’t come without quantity. I know that one has to write a 1000 blogs to write a few good ones. So, I have started the practice of writing daily. Today is day 1. My goal is remove the friction from writing. Make it second nature. I also hope to improve my skills and develop a voice. The daily posts will probably not be the best work and I intend to keep them a bit raw. I’d like to think, this writing is for me first.

It’s also about creating. Most of the time I am a consumer of content. I read so much online — blogs, twitter, news, subtacks but don’t contribute much to the internet. I want to change that.

In other news, there’s suddenly a huge discourse about AI safety. Everyone from Bernie Sanders to AI researchers are asking to slow down or outright ban stuff in case of Bernie. There’s no question about the risks but I do think humans are gullible when it comes to fear. Anything can be made to fear by power of the crowd.

  • AI is going to cause human extinction.
  • AI is going to take our jobs.
  • H-1Bs are taking our jobs.
  • Immigrants are causing housing crisis.
  • Immigrants live on welfare and engage in crime.

How can one cause housing crisis by buying houses costing hundreds of thousands of dollars while living on welfare? Also this is America, is there even welfare? It’s hard not to see the contradiction here but people would utter these statements in the same breath and never see the contradiction. Humans are fascinating creatures, aren’t we?
